| JD WALTER is, I'm convinced, the next great male Jazz vocalist. He's been described as a cross between Bobby McFerrin and Kurt Elling (who lists J.D. as one of his favorite vocalists in a cover story on Kurt in the April JazzTimes), but that's not really fair because J.D. is 100% himself. He's got the whole package: a soulful, memorable voice, great intonation and rhythm, interesting original tunes and arrangements of standards - and the stuff he does with looping has to be heard to be believed - mind-blowing scatting over his own vocal bass lines and rich, multi-layered harmonies.
