Avenir Light is a clean and stylish font favored by designers. It's easy on the eyes and a great go-to font for titles, paragraphs & more.
There was no precedent for me listening to a new CD by a band I’ve never heard of and being so impressed that I added them to my roster on the spot, but it finally happened with Sounds of A&R. A is the vocalist April May Webb, and R is trumpeter Randall Haywood, and the CD is Questions Left Unanswered, a mixture of arresting originals and covers of great tunes that they make their own. They are definitely Jazz artists, but could also be booked at R&B venues and festivals.
April’s voice is at once supple, dancing over the changes on light-hearted tunes like Moments When I Was a Kid, and soulful, bringing it up from the depths on serious songs like Jolene and The Skin I’m In. April and Randall met at a jam session in a jazz club in New Jersey, and immediately clicked, and this rapport is certainly in evidence on the CD. I used to play trumpet myself, so I can really appreciate Randall’s pure tone, articulation, and creativity, which are second to none.
